Maquia is part of the Iorph, a long-living race that lives apart from humanity. Though surrounded by her people, she feels lonely, having been orphaned young. Her peaceful life is shattered when the kingdom of Mezarte invades, seeking the Iorph's immortality. Amid the chaos, Maquia is swept away by a rampaging dragon and left stranded in a distant forest. There, she finds a baby boy in a ruined village and decides to raise him as her own. Despite knowing little of the human world, she begins a journey of love, loss, and motherhood across time.
